The countdown to your cruise is on. In this post, I will walk you through the Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-in Process.
This is the second post in the Countdown to Cruise series. If you missed the first, don’t worry, you can learn about mastering the Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner here.
Before you Begin – Gather Your Travel Documents
The Online Check-in Process is a 4 step process and Royal Caribbean will walk you through it step by step. It’s not a lengthy process but should you need to stop along the way to gather a piece of information, do not worry. You can save and come back to the process at a later time. You will not have to start over! (Thank goodness!)
This post contains affiliate links, which means if you make a purchase after clicking through one of my links I will make a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Here is the information you will need:
- Passports for all travelers
- Emergency Contact information
- Crown & Anchor Number (if you have not already added it to your account)
To begin the process, go to the Royal Caribbean website and click Log-in, then, Log in to my cruises. If you booked through a travel agent and have not created an online account it will prompt you to do so. In this case, you will need your reservation number.
Once you access your reservation number you will have access to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-in Process. as well as the Cruise Planner. The Cruise Online Check-In Process allows you to expedite boarding and provides Royal Caribbean with your passport and travel details for their security and boarding process.
Step 1 – Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-In Process
Guest Information
In this step, you will provide your personal information. You’ll need to detail your address, you can add your Crown & Anchor membership number, provide passport information, emergency contact, and travel details. You will also be given an arrival window for the cruise port. This is the most lengthy step but hey you’re about to go on a cruise! Totally worth the ten minutes!
On the Oasis or Quantum Class Ships, you will also upload a security photo. Please note this is a headshot, facing straight ahead with light, plain colored background. Think passport photo, not high fashion pic. I believe the plan is to roll this out to the other ships in the near future.
You will have to fill out this information for everyone in your group.
Step 2 – Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-In Process – Onboard Expense Account
This step is quick and easy. You need to set up an onboard expense account. I highly recommend using a credit card if possible. We use the Bank of America Royal Caribbean Visa so we get double points for all purchases with Royal Caribbean which we then redeem for the onboard credit. YAY!
You can allow others in different staterooms (our teenage children are usually in a separate stateroom) to be on your expense account. When our children were younger they did not have purchasing privileges.
Step 3 – Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-In Process –Cruise Ticket Contract
This is all of the boring legal stuff. This explains the rights of Royal Caribbean, your rights as a passenger, what refunds you may receive based on dates, etc. Basically, Royal Caribbean can change whatever they need to change including port stops, durations.
Step 4 – Royal Caribbean Cruise Online Check-In Process –
Set Sail Pass!
The Set Sail Pass is essentially your ticket to board the ship! Fun! You’re almost ready to go! This is the document you will print and take with you (along with your passport) to the cruise terminal to board the ship! I’m about to take my 12th cruise and this step thrills me every time!
Extra Tips… Because I Like You 😉
Sign your waivers online! This is especially helpful if you have kids who want to ice skate. Open skating times can have long lines with people who need to sign their waiver. I sign waivers for everything. I may not want to rock climb, but if I do, I’m ready to go!
You can also print off your luggage tags and make copies so that you have enough for each of your bags. I tag my carry on too, just in case. I keep our Set Sail Pass, our receipts, and the rest of our travel documents in a poly envelope. Find out what to pack in your Carry On Embarkation Day Bag post.
NOTE: Do not attach your cruise luggage tags until you are headed to the port. I attach ours the morning of embarkation at our hotel, using these handy plastic sleeves.
You’re Set to Sail
Don’t worry. The site will guide you through the entire process and let you know when you have completed the step with little checkmarks. Yay! I love check marks…yep, I’m a nerd.
That wasn’t so bad, was it? If you have any questions, be sure to comment below. I would be happy to help! If you have a tip for Online Check-in Process be sure to share it!
