There are so many fun souvenir pics to take on your cruise. Smartphone in hand you are ready to snap away and capture some vacation memories.
Cruises are an excellent opportunity to take tons of souvenir pics, but photo packages on board can be quite expensive (up to $20 each). Save some money on all of the quick souvenir shots and spend your photo budget on one or two portrait quality photos taken by staff photographers. Need some encouragement? I have a list of 24 fun souvenir pics to take on your cruise.
And don’t forget to print the list and take it with you on your next cruise.
1. The very popular (and beautiful) aft trail. I do this every time, and it never gets old. It’s my favorite! It also makes a dreamy background for your desktop or a screensaver.
2. The life preserver hosting the ship name. Trade favors with a fellow cruiser and grab this easy souvenir pic.
3. First Drink – Brian and I have a tradition. The first thing we do onboard is head up to the pool deck, grab a drink and toast to a fabulous vacation!
4. First meal – Are you a foodie? Take a pic of your first vacation meal. Remember, vacation calories don’t count!
5. Sunrise – You are on a cruise! You are bound to see a beautiful sunrise. If you are like me and want to wait until the sun is up to rise yourself, then #6 is for you.
6. Sunset – They don’t get much better than on a cruise.
7. Sign in each port – There will be a cruise sponsored sign in each port, and there may be even a friendly pirate there, too. But, if you’d like to save a few bucks, head a little further into the port area, and there will be another. Grab another tourist and swap the favor of taking each other’s pictures. I do this every time, and I’ve never had anyone turn down my polite request.
8. A new friend or two – On our last cruise, we met such a lovely couple from Canada that was on their first cruise. We chatted in the Schooner bar for quite a while, and I wish that I had asked to take their picture for our cruise book. (missed opportunity)
9. Dining Staff – We have always had excellent service. But, occasionally you meet someone who is just so special that after a week you feel like family. Check out our favorite waiter, J.C….he was one of a kind, and we were all a little teary-eyed on the last night. Don’t laugh! It’s true.
10. Room attendant – We have always had excellent service on our cruises. However, occasionally you have a room attendant that is just so engaging that you feel like long lost friends. What a great way to remember a specific sailing.
The list of Fun Souvenir Pics to Take on your Cruise continues
11. How about grabbing a snapshot with the Captain? On most ships, there will be a special night for this. Sometimes there is even champagne!
12. Favorite day spot on the cruise ship – My favorite sea day spot is in the Solarium getting a little Vitamin D.
13. Favorite night spot – Everyone has a favorite place at night. Mine is either the peacefulness of our balcony or sipping a cocktail at any of the venues onboard featuring live music.
14. Ships passing in the night – They are usually too far to tell for sure, but it’s fun to try and guess the ship.
15. Cabin number and interior pics – Not only is this a great way to remember your cabin, but it can be beneficial to future travelers. You can upload your cabin pics to the Shipmate app so that future sailors in that room can have a great preview. My favorite cabin was our Junior Suite on the Allure of the Seas which you can read about and see pictures here.
If you are on the app, I’d love to be your “shipmate” you can add me by my username FindingJillian!
16. A picture with the cruise director – typically the life of the party on a cruise ship. I wish I could bottle their energy!
17. Funny sign on the ship – I found this one on the pool deck of the Allure, last spring.
18. Approaching a port – Isn’t it so exciting to see a new port come into view. We also get a kick out of watching the pilot boat pull up alongside the ship, and the local pilot hops onboard.
19. Favorite towel animal – All cruisers have their favorite. What’s yours?
20. Front of the ship with just the open ocean ahead of you.
21. Favorite place on the ship to grab a cocktail. Do you prefer a quiet corner or the lively pool deck?
22. Top entertainment venue – I cannot get over the aqua theatre on the Oasis-class ships. I love the fresh air and the amazing entertainment.
23. Ship in the background – In all of the ports of call that I have experienced, there have always been a few great places where you can view your ship from land. Ask a fellow cruiser to snap a pic of you with your ship in the background. Make sure you can see the ship name!
24. “Our spot” – This is a little unique. We have been fortunate enough to sail with our kids several times. Interestingly enough, 2 of those sailings have included the port of St. Maarten. Each of those trips, I have taken a pic of our two at the end of the dock near the water taxi with our ship in the background. I love the side by side comparison. If you have little ones, give this one a try. You may end up back in the same spot several years from now.
